Dr. Shawn Kwatra is the Dr. Joseph W. Burnett Endowed Professor and Chair of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and an internationally recognized dermatologist and physician-scientist widely recognized for his bench-to-bedside research advancing the understanding and treatment of chronic itch and inflammatory skin disease. He has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, with research support from the NIH, Dermatology Foundation, Skin of Color Society, and industry-sponsored clinical trials. Dr. Kwatra’s translational research has helped drive the development of novel targeted therapies for prurigo nodularis and chronic pruritus.
